Welcome
to the Mt. Remo Backcountry Society home pageThe Mount Remo Backcountry Society (MRBS) is a voluntary non profit group with more than 25 active members in Terrace and Kitimat. In 1998 we incorporated as a society with a mandate to support the protection of backcountry recreation areas, increase awareness of backcountry issues, and to develop backcountry recreation facilities. The society has been a contributor to the Non-Motorized Recreational Area planning process of the Kalum Land and Resource Management Plan. Every year we participate in events to promote backcountry recreation and to highlight avalanche awareness and safety. MRBS maintains and operates the Larsen backcountry cabin located in the Larsen non motorized recreation area and is planning to build a cabin in the Remo non motorized recreation area. Both areas are located close to Terrace. The growth and expansion of MRBS and our facilities is only possible because of the many volunteers who have helped the society over the years. MRBS meets every few months to discuss any upcoming events and activities. Anyone interested in joining our society is welcome to come out and see what we are all about. The society charges an annual membership fee of $30. Check the events page or contact us for further information. |
